Tyra told me so

So the other day I was having a chat with a lady friend, nothing particular, just storos then she notices a pimple on my face and goes; "hey, u still get those" and I foolishly responded yeeah, I don't know why tho, I scrub my face daily but every now and then...even before I could finish my statement she was on her feet screaming NO NO NO, you shouldnt scrub ur face daily, tyra told us u should only do it thrice a week, now at this point i'm shocked at her immense interest in a simple pimple and the fact that, "Tyra told her" so I laughed a good one, and commented that watching Tyra on telly is not the same thing as Tyra telling you not to scrub ur face daily



thing is though, I've realised that some women take this shows a tad bit too seriously, some of them, its actually funny, others quite disturbing; sample this;
my friend recently updated her social status and wrote "Valentina! evana is not pregnant! u can have Jose Miguel, just do the test again" apparently, she was talking about some show called soy tu duena. and there I am about to comment and ask her haiya, Valentine's dating a spaniard?


kwanza CNN recently carried a story on how spanish soaps have taken over the world but they have literally taken over some of my friends lives. funniest thing is u would never know until u say something innocently then whoooa, the spanish soaps/talk shows fan-that oh-so-repressed inner child- bursts out and people say such things 'tyra told me!'

 but lest I be accused of being gender insensitive, I suppose guys do the same thing when it comes to sports. recently, I overheard a guy saying ati, "no we cant meet kesho, we have a game" of course what he meant was Man U had a game and here he is, cancelling business meetings and those Man U players who he's going to watch ar actually at work!
I guess we all get really involved with whatever we fancy so we tend to cling onto it, personalizing it, telling guys, "we won jana's match" and ur not even a registered fan of the team.or perhaps its the sense of belonging that comes with associating with  a team, celebrity or cause, its perfectly normal, but oh boy, it sure is funny to hear
